Voice AI
Voicebot
Also called: voice bot
A voicebot is a bot that interacts through speech rather than text. Early voicebots were scripted (IVR-style); modern ones use conversational AI to understand free speech and hold a natural phone conversation — effectively an AI voice agent.
The distinction that matters is capability, not the label: a scripted voicebot follows fixed branches, while a conversational voicebot understands intent and improvises within guardrails.
