Outbound calling
Also called: outbound calls · outbound dialing
Outbound calling refers to phone calls a business places *out* to customers or prospects — sales outreach, reminders, collections, confirmations, follow-ups. AI voice agents run outbound campaigns at scale, placing many calls concurrently.
Outbound has stricter compliance rules than inbound (consent, do-not-call lists, calling-hour windows). The AI advantage is volume and consistency: every lead called in seconds, every follow-up made, every outcome logged.
