An AI voice agent is software that makes and answers phone calls in a natural, human-sounding voice — understanding what the caller says, holding a real conversation, taking action (booking, qualifying, answering), and handing off to a human when it should.

Unlike a menu-driven IVR, an AI voice agent understands free speech and improvises within your guardrails. Under the hood it chains speech-to-text, a language model, tool/integration calls, and text-to-speech in real time, with sub-second latency so the conversation feels natural.
